Giuseppina (Giusy) Sannino, PhD
Product Specialist, Europe

Giusy is responsible for direct sales and provides technical support for customers, regional distributors and agents throughout Europe. She is a gifted tri-lingual resource with expertise in cell-based and luciferase assays, lentivirus production, and gene therapy techniques such as siRNA, and CRISPR/CAS9.

Giusy earned a joint Masters degree in gene expression from Universita Politecnica, (Anacona, Italy) and the University of California (San Diego, California). She earned her PhD in Cancer Biology from the Natural and Medical Sciences Institute at the University of Tublingen. She completed her postdoctoral work at the Laboratory for Pediatric Sarcoma Biology, Munich.

 

After several years working as a researcher in academia, I'm now doing - for the first time - the type of science I was dreaming about when I was child. Here, everyone's ideas count and everyone can drive innovation.

Yee Xin Chong

After graduating from Guilin University of Electronics Technology with a degree in mechatronics engineering, Yee Xin joined MicroGEM’s manufacturing team, steadily gaining responsibility for procurement, quality control, importation, and exportation. More recently, she helped expand the facility’s manufacturing capabilities and is now also responsible for managing the production plan and team training.

MicroGEM offers plenty of opportunities to expand my skill set and build projects from the ground up. I'm excited to be part of this team, bringing our products and methods to scientists around the world!

Abishek Muralidhar. PhD
Senior Biotechnologist

Abishek joined MicroGEM in November 2015 and has a diverse role ranging from the research and development of new and existing MicroGEM technologies, mining the culture collection for new products of interest, and developing methods for scale-up and manufacture of these products.

Abishek has a PhD in Ecophysiology from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, for his investigation into molecular mechanisms resulting in physiological stress tolerance in algae and plants. Prior to this, he earned a Masters degree in Plant Pathology from VIT University, India, for his study on the genetic and functional diversity of plant pathogens and plant growth promoting bacteria from agricultural soils. Abishek has expertise in a range of molecular and biochemical techniques including sequencing, PCR, molecular cloning, confocal microscopy, electrophysiology, protein expression and fermentation.

I have always been fascinated with extremophiles and the mechanisms that help them survive and thrive in extreme habitats. This fascination drew me to MicroGEM where I have the opportunity to study microbes isolated from unique environments and tap their potential to solve real world problems.
