DNA extraction for prenatal diagnostics using prepGEM Universal
Research from MicroGEM and Solis BioDyne shows significant improvements in extracting DNA from a low input of amniotic fluid and maternal blood to detect fetal genetic disorders. Using MicroGEM’s temperature-driven PDQeX prepGEM DNA extraction process in combination with Solis BioDyne’s DNA polymerase, the researchers showed a fast and simple procedure to extract a good amount of high-quality DNA from low abundant material.
The implications for prenatal genetic testing are positive with the potential for much quicker results than is currently possible.
